STATE APPROVES NEW ENTERPRISE ZONE DESIGNATION FOR MUSCATINE
Muscatine, Iowa - State Representative Nathan Reichert of Muscatine said today the state has awarded the first transportation enterprise zone designation to Muscatine to help local businesses create new jobs. The new designation was approved by the Iowa Department of Economic Development board earlier today.
"Muscatine is the first city in Iowa to receive this designation and I'm optimistic it will help us expand our local economy," said Reichert. "I'm pleased the state has given us a new opportunity to create new, high-paying jobs in our community."
The new transportation enterprise zone is located on 47 acres just east of Heinz USA. Muscatine qualified for the new enterprise zone program after Senate File 2183 was approved by the Iowa Legislature last spring. Businesses that locate or expand in the new enterprise zone will now be eligible for a variety of state tax benefits.
